Product Description:

Spongefork is a complete softsynth, sampler, live improvisation instrument, and soundfile processing application. The 2.* series has been completely rewritten to provide many new features and native Mac OS X support. SF's oscillators and interface are controllable via a unique XY based modulation controller, your computer keyboard, or by any MIDI device or application. The original SF, released in April of 1999, was one of the first applications made specifically for gesturally controlled electronic improvisation. This sense of surprise and unpredictability is one of the virtues and unique attributes of Spongefork. Whether you are searching for raw material for your compositions, improvising with live musicians, or looking for a simple way to organize and perform your live sets, SF is still one of the most interesting software based instruments available today.

Spongefork CommentaryFinally, it boots - Version: 3.3.4, 8/25/2008 10:13PM PST

3.3.4 finally boots without bombing. The interface is clean and easy to take in with a glance.
I will need to experiment some with this. It is already a bit sluggish when accessing the preferences and presets (spinning beachball) and I'm running a G4 800 with over a gig of RAM.

Spongefork CommentarySpongefork is fantastic. - Version: 3.3.3, 6/22/2008 05:09AM PST

Too often, wonderful apps like this get abandoned & overlooked. In sound design, there is an unavoidable tension between the uniqueness of the tool (vs. sounding like everybody else in laptop land), and the steepness of that tool's Learning Curve. Spongefork has always balanced originality & accessibility. Easy to learn, yet thick with creative possibilities. Kudos to Ryan Francesconi & Phil Burk for keeping it current.
