"RE: Seems like we can't get that version any more. :-("

Go ahead and download the 4.0 version from their site, IT IS THE 4.0.9 version. They just never updated the test on the site.

Though the Limewire site says they no longer support OS 9, this latest build is much faster and worth the download. Where version 4.0.1 was slow and took forever to complete tasks, this version is almost bearable though it is clear the Windows clients are getting all the attnetion. Get this one though folks, you'll be glad you did even if its the very last one they ever release.

LimeWire ReviewNot bad really - Version: 4.0.8, 1/12/2005 09:07AM PST

I have to say that Limewire is far better than Kazaa, winMX or soul seek put together!

Limewire seems to have absolutely no problem in finding rare and hard to find tracks whearas kazaa, winMX and soul seek struggle somewhat.

It is quite easy to use....however i have experienced minor technical problems of 'sharing' my own personal music from media player (although limewire does not have any problems sharing it's OWN files) it seems to get confused as to what folder to share from windows media player.

The other cliche, is that downloaded files do not automatically store in windows media player until you have played them. (could be a good or bad thing depending on how you organise your specific music files)

Apart from that, it's an excellent programme and i have recomended it to a few people already!

What an improvement. I started using it since aimster started to ask money because it was the last that worked. But now, it is not only the last that worth it but it is the best these day. for the first time, i even think of buying the full version!!

LimeWire Troubleshooting Reportbetter, but not best! - Version: 4.0.5, 6/15/2004 09:50PM PST

Well, I haven't tried version 4.0.6 yet. But 4.0.5 is a little buggy, with the MRJ/Java errors. The upside to 4.0.5 is that besides the flaws, I've been downloading very rare, hard to find game ROMS. Like NES, SEGA, GAMEBOY & GAMEBOY ADVANCE. Oh! And yes, songs as well.

LimeWire ReviewHUGE Improvement - Version: 4.0.3, 5/22/2004 04:22AM PST

I can't believe what a major leap this has taken. 4.0.3 is such a great improvement in the Classic Mac OS: Searches actually return downloadable material. The selections come faster and in greater number. But most of all the download speed has improved tremendously!! I don't know what these guys did with this one or why it took them so long but THIS is the one actually worth donating for (never thought I'd say that). In short, it ain't your father's LAMEwire.

Although Limewire version 4.0.2 would not connect as I indicated in my review on 5/19/04, the problems seems to have been resolved in version 4.0.3. This version connects normally, appears to be fully functional, and searches at a very reasonable speed.

They seemed to have solved the molasses bug - under Classic I experience no difference in speed compared to LW 3.8.10. Haven't tried OS X yet.
Stil, to me the new GUI is not much of an improvement.
