Product Description:

Trash*Desktop is Drag&Drop utility for rebuilding the Desktop of any disk. It sets the files "Desktop DB", "Desktop DF" and "Desktop" to visible and then move them to the Trash.


Just drop any unprotected local disk and then restart the Mac for rebuilding a fresh new Desktop files.


The AppleScript file called "Trash All & Restart.as" shows how to select all mounted volumes and move the Desktop files to the Trash. The file "Trash All & Restart" is the applet version, you just need to select Trask*Desktop the first time you launch it.


Caution: The Finder comments are deleted when you rebuild the Desktop files with Trash*Desktop.


Keep in mind that the Desktop files are always in use by the Finder when you move them to the Trash until you restart or unmount the disk.

What's new in this version:

Trash*Desktop is now Mac OS 9.0 savvy, with the "Multiple Users" activated, only the Macintosh's owner can use Trash*Desktop, for the other users it warns.

only think of a few reasons why TrashDesktop may be better. One, it's NOT an extension. Extension conflicts aside, extensions take up sys resources. TrashD runs ONLY when you want it to. Putting something in your system folder for something so easy seems dangerous.

This moves your DT files to the trash forcing a complete re-build. Holding down option simply "repairs" the existing files, which often will not fix problems within. Lastly, it's FREEWARE (look in the description box on the right). AND why would you write one yourself, when its right here to download for free? Hmmm...
