download and install the necessary binaries in the following order:
1.) libusb
2.) SANE backends (latest)
3.) TWAIN SANE Interface

* you should download the binary specific to the OS you'll be using

Mad Machinery

My UMAX Astra 610S works beautifully in 10.3, but only if I use VueScan. Goodbye VistaScan.
