Cast Off is a new preference folder cleansing utility. All those old and junky preferences; Cast Off will remove them. How about all those preferences from all that shareware you download, zap them with Cast Off. Make that mess of sometimes thousands of items into a few hundred in minutes with Cast Off. Why is Cast Off better then others like it? Cast Off has been proven to be, smarter, smaller, faster and even easier to use then others like it. Cast Off has a intelligent engine built in that will identify files like nothing else on the market. To make your life even easier Cast Off includes file and folder exclusions. Also, it can be set to ignore everything except true preference files or Apple preference files. For administrative work it allows the creation of log files for every scan. dumb. OpenTransport is the protocol used by your Mac when you connect to the Internet or use file sharing. Those files are modified every time you OS initializes a connection to a network. You should know what you are talking about before you go trash a product. "Sheesh!"

been revised for over 2 years, and just as well. It is dangerous to use. A harddrive scan of supposedly non-existent programs shows many files "modified today"(!) If the app is no longer present how could the pref be modified _today_? Among the missing apps listed is OpenTransport....with OT files "modified today." Sheesh!

with this program for the past couple of hours. While it did help me identify some "orphans" it identified a wide variety of prefs that are NOT, such as every single Microsoft pref, several for Adobe and Macromedia products, and my CDDB database file. I tried to add files to the "Ignore" list and it ignored the ignore list, except for whatever the last item was. I'd like it better if it could tell me me the location of the file (I did a lot of name-searching so I could find out where files were, which influenced whether they should be deleted or not). It would also be handy, though not expected, to be able to change the invisibility of files; that's kind of out of the scope of this soft and I have another utility for that. While useful as a listing reference I'm disinclined to continue using it.
