Long version: I've been using one of the first Olympus digi-cams for several years now. The original shipped w/ a serial cable that eventually went the way of the world. Enduring the salesman's scorn long enough to ask for a replacement serial cable, I was directed to the Olympus USB Smart Card reader. The included software on the CD was a snap to install on the Mac (of course). Firstly, it's a gazillion times faster via USB; wish I'd gotten rid of the serial cable last year. I've had only occasional errors when downloading images (maybe 2 images out of 200 won't download). I hope the updater listed here on VersionTracker fixes this. The software is PC -centric, you'll need File Exchange or PC Exchange enabled, as revealed by the folder that appears on your desktop via the reader, named with typical Windows poetry: IVOLM. Otherwise, this is big timesaver utility.
