Apple Personal LaserWriter 300/LS CommentaryG3 laptop freeze - Version: 1.2, 9/21/2004 09:05AM PST

version_john
... I've installed this and I either get a complete freeze (with or without virtual memory) or the mac won't see the printer/complains that the serial port is in use.

(Why is it never easy?)

Apple Personal LaserWriter 300/LS CommentaryDifficulty w/G4 system, lacking software, too - Version: 1.2, 8/23/2003 10:29AM PST

My Personal Laserwriter 320 seems to have failed, and I picked up this 300 model cheap, hoping to replace my trusty old one, or at least to scrounge parts...okay, a pie-in-the-sky hope, I realize.

I downloaded and installed this driver (but do not have the original PL300 software disks). The 300 now shows up in the chooser, but it crashes my G4 (cube, 350mhz) system on startup unless I turn off that extension.

If anyone has suggestions for me--or knows where I could get the software for this printer--I would be grateful. I believe that the 300 was working fine when it was sold.

OR...if you have an idea what might be wrong with my 320--it stopped printing on command, tho it may blink green for a LONG time, so it's receiving something. Also, if I power it off, then back on, the test sheet that it normally prints is completely blank.

gracias...

Apple Personal LaserWriter 300/LS ReviewThis is an… - Version: 1.2, 6/23/2001 10:51AM PST

ancient driver that needs to get updated. Faster computers can be too fast and need to use virtual memory to slow them down so the driver works. My G3/266 is okay, but my G4/450 needs v-memory to work
