not require the Asante net software to boot up, if you use the Asante software, the connection will be more secure, and in addition, you will be able to use the Asante control panel to select ethernet ports, helpful if you use more than one. This latest revision keeps the OS9.1 software from crashing or freezing on boot. Nevertheless, OS9.1 still takes longer than 9.0 and earlier to connect to an AppleTalk network. George Cowie.
