now removed my need for SimpleText. ( I just stumbled on to this product, how come nobody ever mentioned it to me? ...) Version 5.x+ is a contender for my Top list of free/share apps that includes GraphicConverter, FinderPop, and SoundApp. It's Free, and it fills its little niche so richly, almost perfectly. Thanks Steve !!
Very nice. For…

ANYONE to criticize such a nice little Freeware application is crazy. It is said to be simple. And it is. If some wants more complicated with more features, there are plenty of aps out there. This one does look nice and does some nice things. I would absolutely get this on someone's Mac who is a little intimidated by other applications. Easy e-mail too. But this is useful even for those of us who are able to handle larger word processing programs. I use SimpleText regularly for quick writings. This one is better looking and also simple. It doesn't seem to give my G4 any problems. Why not use it? Those who don't like the look can change it. Kaleidescope offers many options. (And if you don't have Kaleidescope, you're missing a much more enjoyable look to your Mac.) StevePerfect is very nice and I suspect he will make it even better in the future. (The earlier suggestion to be able to name it after the user isn't a bad idea though.)
Incredibly, someone is…

grousing about a FREE, web-savvy word processor that works - what's that all about? It perfoms smoothly under System 9.1 on a beige G3 with 224 megs of RAM and a megaton of extensions. The handy little application has many features the name brands sport. A big difference is it doesn't take up the hard drive space of a recumbent herd of elephants (see Word or even the otherwise splendid Nisus Writer.) If it were a perfect world, StevePefect 5.0 would come with a personalized name change hack so that it becomes, say, "MikePerfect 5.0" or whatever the user's name is (including the About box and the logos.) That would be very cool. As it is, my hat's off to Steve ; his word processor isn't "perfect", but by no stretch is it "kindergarten" fare, as one cheery soul suggested. I'll bet Steve isn't through "perfecting" it, either.
