demo version (2.0.3). No slowdowns, no crashes at all. It is correct that it really modifies the System suitcase. I found the size of my System file increased about 48 bytes. I'll restore at the end of the trial period. But, I got no alerts from NetBarrier even I tested it with grc.com. Without NetBarrier I found my ports were Closed, and with the NetBarrier they reported as Stealth. I tried it with IPNetSentry with turning off the IPNetSentry's protection and made it to attack my system with its Test, but still got nd allerts from NetBarrier, I don't know why.

about Netbarrier EXPECT for the interface! If I liked the MacOSX GUI, I'd use MacOSX. But I don't, and I don't think that MacOS9 apps should be made to 'emulate' the MacOSX GUI. It's just not right... There are several other things I find backwards about the GUI too (like the customized firewall rules window). If Netbarrier had the easy to use and understand interface NPF had, it would be a 6 star app.

MacWorld review, I thought I'd give it a try -- for $50, I thought, what the heck! While I can't comment on how well it protects me against Internet attacks (nothing "bad" appears in the log yet), I can say that this product works GREAT! It's very easy to use, and I am now able to block all of the annoying popup windows (like x10.com) and those annoying Flash ads on news.com. Web browsing is so much nicer now. It's also fun to watch the real-time performance monitor while iTunes is playing streams or while I am surfing. I sincerely recommend this product.

Mr. Trev
for about a year (didn't upgrade/convert it to Norton Personal Firewall) and have been very happy. I tried NetBarrier based on a published MacWorld review of 4.5 stars... All i can say is this app sucks compared to Doorstop. Doorstop is so intuitive and it actually works! NetBarrier, in tests I've performed on myself, has not been able to block anything when it is supposed to be blocking EVERYTHING! And NetBarrier MODIFIES YOUR SYSTEM FILE! I cannot stand it when apps MODIFY THE SYSTEM FILE or any of my core system files. WTF is Intego doing modifying the system file? And the only reason they do it is for serialization? I am going back to Doorstop - less is more... way more.

preference to return all setting to default. No problems with AIM or IE. I think it was changing the fire wall to Client only (instead of default setting ) that screwed things up. Regardless, I decided to disable NB anyway. I am using dialup (No AppleTalk or File Sharing) & I am not convince I need security.
