of NCSA Telnet's crown, IMHO, BetterTelnet is the best client of its kind. I work for a major university's technical support division and we recommend it to all of our Macintosh users. Compared to the PC telnet programs, which aren't even freeware, it has caused us no problems. I use Chas William's Kerb5 plugin with it to access the Kerberized Telnet servers on my Linux boxes as well as the university's Solaris and HP-UX servers and it works great. I hope that when the legal issues work themselves out that it will finally be able to support SSH.

is one of the best Telnet clients I have ever seen...tons of features, MUD features, and EXTREMELY small size compared to the other Mac Telnet clients available make this, in my opinion, the best client out there, period. Definitely worth the download.

client for the Mac. I especially like that I can script it with AppleScript and I look forward with anticipation to the planned improvements to OSA support in version 2.5. I would give this 5 stars, but I think one key feature is missing - a customizable palette of macro buttons. Moreover the palette should change depending on what host you are connected to and who you are connected as (i.e. you can have a palette for every different host and login.) Note to hyperizer - version 2.0fc1 *is* the final version of 2.0 that will be released. No further updates are planned to the 2.0 line. The next release will be 2.5 - see the bettertelnet web site.
Great telnet program.…
