Product Description:

WannaBe has limited functionality. WannaBe is strictly a text-only web browser. Non-text "http" URLs are downloaded and saved to disk, in the folder specified by Internet Config, which is required. URLs with schemes other than "http" and "file" are passed to Internet Config. Navigation in WannaBe is supported through hyperlinks, direct URL entry, and home, back, and forward commands. The text of pages can be copied to the clipboard or saved to a local file. A find command allows searching for text strings within a page. A Search command allows customizable access to search engines or other web form-enabled pages. (Forms are otherwise not supported -- choose the WannaBe help command under the Help menu for more info.)

What's new in this version:

The changes from 1.0b13 are almost entirely internal. The one new feature is support for HTML div elements.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

WannaBe ReviewWannabe ROCKS! - Version: 1.0b14, 5/25/2003 04:43AM PST

I agree with the other 5-star reviews, and use it for many purposes. One "feature" not mentioned is that being image-free means no more browser stalling (even on broadband) while it waits for one gif or for a page to have its %^@$^ "page counter" returned. Another feature I like is under the Go menu, "Open This Page in"... various browsers. There are various things I'd like to see (which wouldn't slow it down (?), just fatten it up):
forms, bookmarks, history, a simple button bar (back, forward, etc), and default font choice. But it does what it does extremely well.

WannaBe ReviewVery interesting. Incredibly… - Version: 1.0b13, 1/3/2003 12:53AM PST

fast, for one thing. The frustration of the lack of images disappears very fast and you can use it in an almost-experimental surfing... Very cool. Eventually, it becomes addictive because of its simplicity and also because it goes faster than any other browser you'll ever use. A must for web-designers who don't care to know if the images of their sites loaded properly, and for the brain-dead like me who need brain to rest and simple keep ideas for warm ungh/kx*

WannaBe ReviewWannaBe is invaluable… - Version: 1.0b13, 9/24/2002 11:38AM PST

for sniping on eBay. What other browser can reload a page in 3-4 secs, giving you a moment by moment view as you come up to the wire? So, it doesn't have frames etc? There are plenty of browsers that do. He who travels far & fast must travel light. WannaBe is superb at what it does. Roll on the OSX version.
