Product Description:

Final Cut Pro 2 is Apple's next generation, award-winning video editing, compositing and special effects software that features real-time editing, breakthrough Power Mac G4 performance, and a scalable architecture that allows users to output content into any video format. Final Cut Pro 2 features a new, QuickTime-based real-time architecture that removes lengthy rendering time from the creative process. Add an optional, supported real-time processing card to perform wipes, dissolves, even 2D motion graphic effects instantly, and get maximum flexibility to experiment and innovate. Running on our blazingly fast Power Mac G4 or PowerBook G4, Final Cut Pro 2 offers the specialized features, performance and robust editing workflow that video professionals most need, without the expensive price tags and costly maintenance fees.

Final Cut Pro 2 and QuickTime 5 work together to take advantage of the supercomputing performance of Apple's new Power Mac G4 and PowerBook G4 lines, delivering dramatic gains in video editing productivity. On compute-intensive operations, Final Cut Pro 2 is up to 30% faster on single CPU systems and 70% faster on dual processor systems, when compared to the previous generations performance on similarly configured systems.

Following my original feedback- I have discovered the solution - If you are unable to upgrade to version 5.1.3 using automatig updater tool - do foolowing: go to Apple website --Mac OSX--Downloads--select Apple downloads--Final Cut Pro 5.1.3--log in under user name and enter the serial number of your software -- download 5.1.3 upgrade file which DOES INSTALL without any problems.
Apple must have posted damaged or faulty file on server which is accessed by automatic Software Update tool.

Automatic Software Updater recognises that Final Cut Pro 5.1.3 is required , ( to update existing version 5.1.2) but when the .pkg file is dowloded, it can not be insalled . Tried several ways, but they all fail. What is going on?!
