this MacOS 9 Prosoft client is for backward compatiblity with older versions of Netware; it's ok but not really necessary for newer versions. If you have Netware 5.x or 6.x, you need the new Novell Native File Services for Macintosh (it's actually built-in and free on Netware 6). Netware 5 users can buy it for about $150 (one license for the entire server) and it will make Macs native, equal clients on the server. See http://www.novell.com/products/nfa/macintosh/ for more info. Prosoft is developing a MacOS X native, IP-only version of their client, but not sure when we'll see that....and it will still only be useful for Netware shops where the sysadmin refuses to install Native File Services for Mac (the small-minded ones always will).

Still doesn't work…

under Mac OS X. Installer is a Classic app, puts all the bits in the right (classic) places but still can't see our Novell network. Folks, this software is dated 4/26/01, NOT 1/9/02 as indicated in VT. The manual is full of little notes from the developers to each other. STILL not ready for prime time. We're planning to abandon Novell altogether, partly because of Mac OS X issues. Grr.
Absolute, utter garbage.…
