new features are amaizing, As for the people cmplaining bout the price it is a professional app, if you want a hobby 3d app go by Carrara or Bryce. As for the UI that is great too, yes it is non standard but it is very function over form based. Maya and C4D have a lot of waisted space on their UIs , people spende years leanring maya too, i go to a school that offers 5 courses in maya. For the price Lightwave 7/7.5 is the best 3d app for the mac by far. maya is still buggy and isnt up to the Unix versions release, and we dont have the option for maya unlimited, complete is a greate app but unlimitd has a lot of the features that people think of when they think of maya. C4d is an ok app but the render quality is not that great.
I'm sorry if…

ickyptang believes my review of two stars (which I still stand by) is based solely on my dislike for the two app. model of Lightwave. But my true dislike of this product has to do with its completely non-intuitive layout and function, as well as its deeply embedded features for which one must search and search and search. I agree that you can get quality output from many different products. And I have seen some amazing work coming out of Lightwave users. However, just because something is "powerful" doesn’t mean it deserves a positive review in the end without consideration for other factors, such as "ease of use." And yes, "Reviews are about the quality of a product"…but that quality has to be judged on many different levels, not just if it can be used by some to produce nice looking end results. After Effects is probably one of the most "powerful" effects compositing apps available on any platform, yet it is so easy to get up and running and get the results you want, without having to pour through manuals and take years of specialized schooling. And like AE, Cinema 4D allows you to get up and running without hours and hours of learning non-intuitive logic. My primary livelihood is film making, and I need a product that is going to allow me to get going without a steep learning curve. I’m sure in the view of someone totally familiar with the ends and outs of Lightwave they love every new version. But for my money, whether that is mid-range 4D money or high-range Maya money, a powerful product doesn’t have to be ambiguous or employ non-standard logic.

flooded with hacked/cracked demos if you really want to use this software. The web is also flooded with on-line reviews of this product if you want to know what people think of it. If they're asking $2,500 for a piece of software you can bet they are not marketing this to a hobbiest, they're looking for a design firm that sent someone to school who's used this and who has some kind of intimate knowledge with it already.
