The first Madden football game ever made was named John Madden Football, and it ran on the Apple II Computer in 1989. Finally, after more than ten years of absence, Madden football has found its way back to the Mac!

Ever since the Madden series was introduced, it has been one of the most popular games in the sports game genre. With a new interface, Madden NFL 2000 lets you easily and quickly navigate with keyboard commands and drag-and-drop mouse control. The increased frame rate is designed to offer lightning-fast gameplay, so you will hit with unreal speed and explosive power (see screen shots). The faster action can allow you to close the gap between the defensive back and receiver, or turn the corner with your running back and jet down the sidelines for a touchdown. Madden NFL 2000 also now boasts a multiplayer franchise mode, full Internet and modem play, a new player editor, an all-new arcade mode, and authentic-sounding stadium audio.

This download is a demo, in which you are able to play the Exhibition level only. Be sure to download the update to fix a few minor bugs found in this release.

game in quite some time (the Original madden football game was released on a mac, as it happens) and likely the last we'll ever see on the mac. if you like football this game's for you. the graphics are good for the time and the game is addicting. all in all what you would expect from a madden game.

waste of $50. Where to start? The interface is hopeless; a confusing mess of Playstation meets Macintosh that defies description. Game play, when it's not crashing, is lackluster, the graphics in 3dFX uninspiring and the "Madden" part (John's commentary) is boring and repetative. While I like finally having a sports sim on the Mac, this is easily the worst example of "rushed to the market in time for Christmas" that I have ever seen.

Another thing - we got a MOUSE on the MAC! It has EXTREMELY poor interfacing that makes customizing the keys like mining for gold in stone with firecrackers. The graphics are a little better than that overall, and I have YET to play one full game without locking up.
