Product Description:

Work Sets is an innovative application that allows you to capture and restore the state of your Macintosh. Work Sets will remember which applications you have running and for enhanced applications it will remember which documents those applications have opened, their position on the screen, and many other things - all with the push of one button. And to reopen all of these applications, documents, etc. you simply 'restore' the 'Work Set' - with either the push of a button or you can assign a hotkey(like F1 for example) so you can restore from any application at any time! This allows you to switch from project to project in an instant.

Looking forward to the release with the promised documentation. Will likely get my $25 but only once it is simple to use...

TAZMAN, I am the developer of Work Sets, thanks for the comments.

Safari Tabs cannot currently be supported because you cannot access them using applescript. Hopefully Apple will fix this in the next release of Safari and I will add support for tabs at that point.

I will look into your questions about BBEdit.

Work Sets CommentaryInitial feelings - Version: 1.0.0, 6/18/2003 08:52AM PST

The concept and delivery are great! I do have a couple things that I feel reduce the usefulness (at least for myself). BBEdit and Safari are 2 applications I use extensively working on clients sites (as well as IE and other apps, but these 2 are what I wanted to comment on). I have multiple tabs set up for each client so I can open their main page, admin page, SQL admin page, etc. I had a single Safari window open with all my pages opened in tabs. I tried to save this in Work Sets but it only opened the page I was on, not all of the tabs. I think shis should at least be an option. I dont want to have a bunch of Safari windows open just to use this product when I can just launch safari and say open in tabs. If you are going to offer "FULL" integration with certain apps, I feel this is an important feature.
On to BBEdit, I work with a FTP Browser window open and several remote pages. WorkSets will open the window but not make the connection (I have BBEdit auto open an FTP Browser on launch so having WS open the window and not make the connection is redundant). Also, the windows I have open in BBEdit are downloaded remote server pages, would it be possible to have WS re-download those pages when restoring? It currently opens the trashed BBEdit Temp files. I MAY play with the program more, but these are my initial comments. The program handles BASIC stuff great, but for this to be REALLY useful to someone like myself, who could REALLY benefit from an application like this (and warrant spending the cash) it needs to handle the needs of a more advanced work enviroment. Great 1.0 release none the less.
