Product Description:

J. Klein Productions Inc. was founded in Colorado Springs by English teacher Jay Klein. In the mid 80s, Jay saw a need for an electronic grade book system that would operate on the Apple II computers the school was using. Grade Busters came to be right after the movie, Ghostbusters, so the connection becomes obvious. It has been a good name in the multitude of grade book names. Grade Busters, on the Apple platform, has outlived hundreds of similar programs, and is still selling today, 12 years later. J. Klein Productions Inc. is one of the top sellers of electronic grade books. One of their biggest selling points is their commitment to free, unlimited, lifetime product upgrades. There are currently over 500 site licenses, including the Denver, Tucson, Houston, and Nashville public school systems.

Making the Grade since the AppleIIgs version called Gradebusters 1/2/3. It is by far the best electronic gradebook available to teachers. I have found Jay Klein to be readily available via email and phone calls. My school district has purchased a district license for Making the Grade for both Windows and Macs. It works seamlessly with SIS and would also work with NCS SASIxp if NCS would release the template to allow interconnectability. Having the key emailed is not a problem and it works FOREVER after you have made your first and only payment.

buyers of this product: this software is a good...unfortunately the people who sell and support it are not. e-mail response is slow IF you even receive a reply. The software uses a software 'key' which must be e-mailed prior to users being allowed to register the software - which is a pain. The people who provide telephone support are RUDE and paranoid about someone copying their product. They are unwilling to work with schools. I cannot recommend purchasing this software.

electronic gradebook programs ever since I got my first computer in 1986. I dare say that I've tried them all; but I always come back to this one. It's by far the most comprehensive and easiest to use. I, too, have upgraded many times at no additional cost; and the new "key file" upgrade system is fantastic! Five stars is not enough.
