provides no explanation for what their latest release of updaters is supposed to accomplish. Just what is it that is being updated, any why? My advice is not to install the updaters until more information is forthcoming.

4 updates posted 11/25/02 for the Canon PowerShot series (Digital Camera Plug-In Module 4.5.1, RAW Image Converter 2.0.2, USB Mounter 1.8, and Remote Capture 2.6.0) and found that only this USB Mounter 1.8 had a problem: The expanded file was incomplete! (This was suggested by the absence of an Installer.) I went, instead, to the Canon Web page for this upgrade and downloaded from there. The resulting file included an installer--and a lot more. When I ran that installer and then re-started my computer, I had no problem mounting my PowerShot G2 camera to my computer (PowerBook G3/500, OS 9.2.2). (As an aside, while I haven't used the upgraded Photoshop Plug-In Module, the upgraded RAW Image Converter and Remote Capture work fine.)

Digital Camera Plug-In Module 4.5.1, Remote Capture 2.6.0, USB Mounter 1.8, my camera would no longer mount. There is no mention on Canon's site what these updates are supposed to accomplish, either. If your rig is working, resist the temptation to have the latest. (G4 DP450, OS 9.1, PowerShot A20)
