Product Description:

OS9 Helper allows you to install Mac OS 9.2.x on Powermac models that Apple has dropped support for. The advantages of having 9.2.x installed include the ability to run the latest versions of Final Cut Pro and DVD Studio Pro, as well as full compatibility with iPod. 9.2.x also is fully compatible with ATI's latest drivers.

To update to 9.2.x, you must have Mac OS 9.1 already installed, and you must download the 9.2.1 and 9.2.2 updaters from Apple. Links are available within the program.

This product is a free download with no support. A support forum is available courtesy of Other World Computing for a $10 fee. Check out www.os9forever.com for information on how to register.

OS9 Helper Troubleshooting ReportCan't upgrade to 9.2.1 :-C - Version: 1.0.1, 1/16/2005 12:17PM PST

el Platonio
After updating HDD, installer (patched by os9helper) displays an error message "This version od Mac OS can not be installed on the disk named disc_name.
Please choose a different destination disk, or perform a clean
installation."

I tried with three different versions of 9.1 (US, International and French) and with two Macs (PowerBook 3400c ant PowerMac 5500) - always with the same ending :-/

btw. http://www.os9forever.com seems to be dead since yesterday :-C

OS9 Helper Troubleshooting ReportI need help :( - Version: 1.0.1, 8/8/2003 12:50PM PST

pawn (PaWnsoft)
I cant get this to complete the install of 9.2.1 update on my
(7600 series PowerMac 400 mhz G3 Sonnet upgrade card with mac os 9.1)
when it is installing the actual 9.2.1 update it checks the disk, finds that its ok, then installed the new apple hard disk drivers. then right hwne its done with that it tells me that there is a file named "Desktop Pictures" on the system Hard drive that already exists and to please rename ot delete it, so the installer stops and im supposed to delete this file.
But whats messed up is the file doesnt exist! so how am i supposed to delete it :\
its not even a invisible file, i've searched many a different ways for this "Desktop Pictures" folder or file whatever it is, and it simply dooes not exist. and yet every time i atempt to install the 9.2.1 update it insists its there and will not complete installation till i renamed or removed. I've even rebuild the desktop and scanned the drive with first aid, and norton, and still come up with the same problem..

One of the best shareware programs I have ever used! The fee of only $10 makes one ashamed because it is worth much more! It is true OS 9.2.2 is much more stable than 9.1. OS9 Helper is stable. In fact, since installing Helper on my Sonnet G3 / 8600, it has NEVER been so stable!
