Product Description:

SCUMM Explorer is the first (and only!) program available on Macintosh for viewing the SCUMM files from LucasArts Entertainment Company games. When you load a datafile you will be presented a list of all the data in that file divided into blocks. Each block represents an object of the game (an image, a sound, and others) and you can view each block content or export its data on disk or also convert it in a different - universal - format. But the most interesting thing above all is that you can discover the "backstage" of the game, its structure and all you never had known before about it.

SCUMM Explorer is actually a project, and what you're trying out is just a beta version. In its future releases it should have full capabilities of viewing all of the SCUMM formatted files and all of their contents. Once you load one or more SCUMM files you will be able to do the following actions:

  • Display all of its blocks into a hierarchical list
  • Dump in hex or ascii each block (over 32 MBytes of data)
  • Save a block's data as a new separated file
  • Display the Color LookUp Table of a certain Room, Actor Costume or Animation Frame
  • Export a Color LookUp Table to a file containing a 'clut' resource
  • View a background image from a Room block
  • Export a Room Image to a picture file, or to a different file type (using Quicktime)
  • View an Object image from a Room block
  • Export a frame from an Object Image to a picture file, or to a different file type (using Quicktime)
  • Play sounds in sound blocks of Monkey Island 1
  • Export these sounds in System 7 sound file format
  • Play music blocks or single music tracks
  • Export musics/tracks to General Midi file format (not available for Monkey Island 1)
  • Export musics/tracks to QuickTime Music file format (not yet available for Monkey Island 1)
    Original version by Enrico Zoxx.
