i was so excited to see an update for EMR that i felt the need to leave some more feedback (even though I already did back in 2001). this latest update doesn't make anything new in the game itself (if you want that, you'll need to try the OS X version of EMR which I hear is very cool). this update provides the full application, so you can start playing right after the download - no need to run an installer, and you don't have to own Marathon Infinity. and i have to say that even after all these years with all the fancy graphics in games today, i still love playing EMR. i can't wait to see the OS X version (as soon as i get a faster computer).
.Zip file replaced with .Bin - Version: 2.1, 2/13/2005 08:53PM PST

If you downloaded the previous emr21.zip file, you don't have all of the resources you need. Zip strips Mac files of their resource forks, and resource forks are critical to playing EMR 2.1. Please discard those files and download the newly available emr21.bin. Several mirrors are provided.
Sorry for the hassle.
Awesome scenario just got easier

I've been playing EMR Infinity for years now, and I owned Marathon Infinity. I never left feedback before, but probably should have. Now that you can download EMR as a standalone package (i.e., doesn't require Infinity to play), I thought I'd share a few words to encourage Mac OS 9 users to try it out.
I have to say that EMR is by far my favorite Marathon total conversion scenario. For those that don't know what a total conversion is, this is not just another set of Marathon maps. You have all new textures, graphics, sprites, sounds, music, the whole works... it's like a completely different game! Some of the maps are tough, but most are beautifully designed, and the story is a lot of fun (basically chasing Morgana through various time periods). The T-rex can scare the pants off of you since he doesn't make any noise until he takes a "chomp" out of your hide. The future maps are gorgeous, and some of the harder maps in the scenario. But I have to say that the Camelot period maps were my favorite. Wielding Excalibur just felt good. :)
Hopefully by the time EMR for OS X is out of beta, I'll have a machine fast enough to run OS X.
