idea what Sonnet Technologies is talking about here: "This Sonnet firmware update adjusts specific logic memory timing parameters on the Crescendo/WS processor upgrade card to fix operation instability resulting from installation of certain combinations of DIMM (RAM) modules. This firmware update also boosts the maximum supported memory on the Crescendo/WS from 192MB to 512MB." We tested the Crescendo G3 500 in an article back in June and had no problems as described above, with either different SDRAM modules from various Mfr., and we were running 512MB of RAM even before putting in the Crescendo daughter board upgrade! This all with the firmware provided back in June which predates v1.2.2.(http://homepage.mac.com/techedgeezine/cart_mac_pb1.html) This 192MB of maximum RAM in any G3 Mac (desktop, iMac or PowerBook) has always been pure fiction and was born out of Apple's laziness to test newer SDRAM designs after earlier products (Macs) were released.
