Product Description:

Groundlevel Software is thrilled to announce the launch of Drumbeat, a peer-to-peer Macintosh file-sharing program that allows you to access to 800,000 Available Users, 450 million files, and over 11 Petabytes of information. You can download not just music, but video, graphics, and text. This program allows you to enjoy the Internet as Napster only dreamt of. Drumbeat connects you to over 100 servers simultaneously, downloads files from other users, and allows you to share your creative work with the world. Built from the ground up as a Macintosh application, Drumbeat has a simple but powerful user interface, is easy to use, even if you've never heard of an .mp3. And Drumbeat gives you Unlimited Search Results.

Important Notes / Known Issues:
  • IMPORTANT NOTE FOR JAGUAR USERS: You MUST first trash all previous versions of Drumbeat and make sure to EMPTY THE TRASH before activating the current version of Drumbeat. There is a bug in Mac OS 10.2 which causes some applications left in the trash to activate in error. Failing to empty the trash may result in the inability to run the current version successfully.
  • Some elements of the "OS X" look in the Classic version have been reverted back to standard Mac OS elements. These include the appearance of Column Headers and the TitleBar in the Classic version.
  • Selecting text in the Search For: area and then dragging the text will cause Drumbeat to crash. We are working to correct this issue as quickly as possible.
  • Setting your Downloads Folder to an irregular Name or Location can result in a hang of Drumbeat during the Startup process. Please do not set the location of Drumbeat's Downloads Folder to your System Folder, Library Folder, or other important location for your Operating System. As well, keeping an alias of another folder within the specified Downloads Folder can cause the same hang behavior during Loading. Aliases of files will not cause this behavior.
  • The Player skips and jumps more than it should when playing music files.
  • At times, a download may appear to be stalled. Selecting (highlighting) the file in the Tasks List may cause the file to start reporting correctly again.
  • What's new in this version:

    • Drumbeat now runs Native in Mac OS X.
    • Drumbeat shows significant increases in download success.
    • Better Server Connections. With more connections to more servers, Drumbeat can now access more than 800,000 Available Users, 450 Million Files and up to 10 Petabytes (10 Billion Megabytes) of information at any given time, with little or no duplication of files — more than any other current system.
    • When File is Queued is reported, most files now report their place and can be followed through the Queue until successfully downloaded.
    • New History Menu saves your previous search results.
    • Drumbeat now supports limited resuming of stalled downloads. To be successful, the resume must be done during one session, the file must be resumed from the same user as before, and the server must support resuming (File corruption results if resume is unsupported). Restarting a stalled Download using the New Contextual Menu attempts to resume the Download.
    • Shows complete list of all "Grouped" files using new Disclosure Triangle.
    • Shows complete list of all Servers in a Network using new Disclosure Triangle in the Servers Tab.
    • You can now read Messages from Servers by double-clicking their name in the Servers List.
    • New additions to the Contextual Menu (CMM) include ability to Restart Download/Upload for stalled files. Control-clicking the "Lead File" in the Tasks List, that is the one directly in line with the Disclosure Triangle, restarts the entire Group of downloads, Control-clicking individual files within the Group restarts each file. You can also now Browse a User’s Files from the Tasks List by using the CMM.
    • Drumbeat now supports limited resuming of stalled downloads. To be successful, the resume must be done during one session, the file must be resumed from the same user as before, and the server must support resuming (File corruption results if resume is unsupported). Restarting a stalled Download using the CMM attempts to resume the Download.
    • Now retains Long File Names in OS X. In Classic, Long File Names are retained in Comments of Get Info Window.
    • 56k users and below can now limit the number of Attempts for each download. This setting can be found under Transfer Preferences.
    • New Online Support Option under Help.
    • In the interest of increased security for all our Users, User IP addresses are no longer reported.

    Drumbeat ReviewEXCELLENT! - Version: 2.0.1, 10/20/2004 06:37PM PST

HI GUYS! I just say: don't wait longer. Download it right now, Drumbeat 2.0 is now the best piece of peer to peer software for Mac you may desire. I use Mac Os 9.2.2 and it works great! With Drumbeat, you'll get the greatest deal of results in searching any kind of files (sometimes in less than half a second!), which you can't get with other p2p applications. Drumbeat is very stable and has got amazing features like inner files preview (you don't need to open any other app to do it!), files resume, users chat, useful search filters, etc... And please believe me: GroundLevel customer care service is nothing less than EXCELLENT!!! Any question or help you may need, just contact them and you'll see... They will always reply you even sooner than 24h hours! Jospy70

STILL unable to copy files without cutting all letters from the 31th onward in version 2 for mac 9. It's extremely bothersome and I wrote it to them long time ago. They simply don't care.
