saved my bacon with numerous large downloads on a modem many many times . system updates sound fonts etc . you can stop slow down (to allow you to load web pages etc while download is running ) restart , turn off computer at end . filter pages for downloads and file types .

more or less 100% stable .

I may as well say downloading was hell to I found igetta . *****

me and has never crashed. the browser integrations is also working well (even in Safari) except it doesn't seem to "swollow" .dmg-files even if I've added the to iGetters list.. It would also be nice if one could use a mouse scroll-wheel to scrolll the main window.

iGetter ReviewIt works just… - Version: 1.8, 10/1/2002 08:56AM PST

fine on my system 9.2.1 and improves download speeds in an impressive way. I disabled the rather intrusive browser integration and all and only invoke iGetter downloads via contextual menu if I see that a large 'regular' download is crawling at 20kb/s or less. In these cases, I quit the Explorer download and use iGetter in order to achieve speed improvements of up to 1000%!! That is a thousand percent as in ten times as fast as the crawler in Explorer!
