Try installing Flash Player 7.0 r14 in Internet Explorer 5.1.7 and then visiting any of Macromedia's own Flash Player Settings panels, which you can get to from this page:

http://www.macromedia.com/support/flashplayer/help/settings/

You'll probably find that none of the settings panels (which appear to be embedded Flash movies) will display, making it difficult to change your security or privacy settings (which control, for example, whether web sites you visit can record or broadcast from a microphone or camera attached to your computer).

Now there's commitment to software quality and security for you!

Flash Player ReviewSucks ass - Version: 7.0 d249, 8/12/2003 01:23PM PST

MUCH worse performance. (romp.com) Also screws up Hollywood.com. Macromedia is getting like Microsoft, every new version of Flash is just more bloated and buggy. Contribute is their only good idea in a while. 1 star for absolute crap. I'd give it -1 stars if I could because they mention Windows instructions in What's New and don't even mention OS X. Apple should buy their company wholesale to stick it to the Man.
