Have Your Windows Buds Tell Yahoo

I could list a half dozen programs that recognize my camera without a problem. Yahoo, can't even find my cam, let alone send anoything to anybody. I just tell all Windows users that tried to get me to use Yahoo to complain. Yahoo doesn't seem to care about Mac users at all. Maybe if they get enough complaints from their PC users.....
Contacted Yahoo support - Version: 2.5.3, 4/16/2004 08:57AM PST

This version of Yahoo Messenger is buggy. It is a shame they put out such a
software for their users. I have only recently switched from a PC to Mac. I love
everything about my Mac except poor software support. To be fair, I can always
use ichat and talk to my AOL buddies, except I have none. Most of my friends
are on Yahoo and some on MSN. At school, I use OS 9.1 with a previous
version of Yahoo. It has less features but it is certainly more stable. This perticular
version keeps logging me out for no reason. Also, I think it is horrible that
they don't have audio chat on the so-called 'latest' version of yahoo. I wish
ichat worked with Yahoo! instead of AOL. I contacted Yahoo! about audio
chat last week. They say 'We know there is a strong interest from the Mac
community for this feature, but currently we have no schedule for such a
feature'. Ridiculous! I have not paid for any of the Yahoo! services until now,
but I would willingly pay $5 a month if they were offering high-quality
audio-video chat with customer support.

For all those with freezing and connection problems - Version: 2.5.3, 9/27/2003 12:11PM PST

Went through the same charade with freezing and connecting.
Try a new download and install. Open Messenger, click on new user which connects you to Yahoo, then sign in as existing user.
Also, be sure, even if you have DSL, to click the 'dial-up' button in preferences.

I can't believe that Yahoo would put out a version that is so unstable for Mac OS9 users, and then disallow you to use the older working version. The best way to get them to get their sh*t together is to email yahoo directly about this. You can do this by going to this link and then clicking on the "No" button at the bottom: (replace the tt in the link below)

Working now! - Version: 2.5.3, 9/26/2003 07:32PM PST

For what it is worth: an hour ago Messenger PPC v2.5.2 was still crashing or freezing OS9, but to try something, I went over to OSX and installed Messenger OSX v2.5.3 while in OSX, rather than in OS9. It worked, but it had worked in OSX anyway. I switched back to OS9 and tried the OSX v2.5.3 under that. It worked there also. I then tried the PPCv2.5.2 again. It now works also! Maybe it was just a co-incidence and Yahoo servers kicked in properly or something, but maybe it was through installing under OSX. If yours is still not working, give it a try!

Classic MODE? Yahoo - Version: 2.5.3, 9/26/2003 10:04AM PST

I downloaded this "latest" version of Yahoo only to have it try to open Classic Mode OS 9 when I went to install it.
Any clues out there?

It's locking up on me as well on OS 9.2.2 on an iMac. After thrashing version 2.5.2 in order to install this new useless version, I was able to find and reinstall version 2.5.2 by doing a google search for "Yahoo Messenger 2.5.2" and clicking on the cached link to the Yahoo site that is listed first in the search results. However, version 2.5.2 is now crashing as well. I've tried reinstalling, rebooting, and cleaning out the preferences all to no avail. I hope it's Yahoo's server or their new protocols that are the problem.

For one, Why cant I create an alias for my buddies? some of friends have obsure usernames, this should be a basic thing.
Secondly, while I can view others web cams, why cant I talk using my mike and speakers. I mean every G3 Mac + has them built-in I think its a simple ask that the mac version be at least withing coey of the windows one.
Can anyone recommend another client that does have these features on Mac OSX?
