This looks interesting, but notes don't mention iPhoto '09—has it been tested yet?

I was searching for an Application that would show me my duplicates and then LET ME DECIDE whether to delete them or not. This did just the trick. I have had several customers where I work asking how to delete multiples (people end up with 20,000 pictures not knowing how they did it...it's devastating to tell them they have to delete them one-by-one!) and from now on I'm going to recommend Duplicate Annihilator!

Duplicate Annihilator ReviewThank god! My duplicates are finally gone! - Version: 2.17.2, 10/17/2008 12:38PM PST

During the years my iPhoto library has become more and more cluttered with duplicates and now reaching 50k+ images it's getting more or less unusable. So today I searched the forums at discussions.apple.com and found several theads mentioning DA so I gave it a try and, gosh, what a relief! In a few hours my library is down to 22k images and things are running so much smoother. Best spent $8 ever.

Duplicate Annihilator ReviewSlow and Inefficient - Version: 2.17.1, 10/13/2008 08:35PM PST

I merged iPhoto libraries from three computers and then set out to remove duplicates for the resulting 16,000 plus files. Read about Duplicate Annihilator, saw the great price, and decided to try. It does annihilate some duplicates, but at a Chinese water torture-like pace. Seriously, it was evaluating about 985 files per hour, so in my case over 16 hrs of crunching. By the time you figure out the pace, you already have a significant time commitment. It did identify 3000+ duplicates, which I successfully trashed. When going back to the library, it was obvious that there were still many many more duplicates remaining. I'm not sure how the software works, but I suspect that "duplicate" as opposed to "replicate" may be key problem. Also not sure how it handles an original vs 90° rotated file. I'm on my second cycle of reprocessing now - should just be another 12 hours or so. This might be just the thing if you have a spare computer and week or so to crunch while unattended (although it may detract from SETI). However, one can eliminate "replicates" far faster by manual visual inspection in iPhoto (using sort options) - even with 16,000 photos. The documentation doesn't warn that this will be a slow process. I guess I'm still looking for "Warp-drive Replicate Annihilator".

Duplicate Annihilator ReviewiPhoto overload - Version: 2.16.0, 6/3/2008 03:57AM PST

When I bought my new iMac 10.5.3 Intel Core 2 duo, the transfer of pictures from my iBook G4 with about 4,000 pictures ended up being 14,000, which of course had many duplicates... rather than trash the new iPhoto I ran this neat application. When the first run was done, I had about 5.000 duplicates, that I could trash. It has found many, and I am now down to about 5,000 photos that I can live with. I continue to run the application and it finds fewer each run. So needless to say I am very pleased with it's capabilities
Thanks
JJ

Duplicate Annihilator ReviewGood tool to hunt down duplicates! - Version: 2.13.0r2, 1/1/2007 01:28PM PST

This software accomplishes a task that should actually be built in iPhoto, but it isn't. It's stable, very versatile (according to the ways how duplicates are identifyed) and offers a simple way to hunt down duplicates in iPhoto.
And it's price is affordable to really everyone!

I absolutely can recommend this software!

Duplicate Annihilator CommentaryAlbum problem remains unsolved. - Version: 2.10.1, 9/10/2006 10:58AM PST

This product, like all others I've tried, still fails to solve the following critical issue: Let's say you ended up with 3 duplicate verison of the same photo in the iPhoto Library: Versions A, B, and C.
You also placed vesrion B into an album!
No problem if you delete A and C.
BUT IF YOU DELETE VESRION B, IT IS ALSO DELETED FROM THE ALBUM, and you won't know this until you look in the album, by which time you may have emptied the trash.
What we need is a marker on each photo in the Library which indicates which album(s)hold this photo.
Any suggestions?
