The most perfect app to change filenames.
Onlything I miss is that you can't revert on mistake.

QuickName ReviewWorked like a charm - Version: 1.3.2, 1/12/2005 04:57PM PST

I had never had a need for such an app, but this was perfect for what I needed to do. I was downloading albums from emusic.com, and wanted to strip the artist name from the file name. I simply told the app how many characters I wanted removed from the files within that folder, and it did it perfectly and simply.

Great app.

QuickName CommentaryNo Hole - Try "Simple Find & Replace v1.1" - Version: 1.3.2, 10/19/2004 12:22PM PST

Online Since 1987
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/13235

I've been using the "Simple Find & Replace v1.1" application in Panther (for some time), and it's been invaluable. However, I do want to try this "QuickName" and see if it's actually better. The feature-set looks a little more interesting.

QuickName CommentaryGlad To See This App - Version: 1.3.2, 10/19/2004 02:49AM PST

I was a fan of R-Name, but it does NOT work in Panther. I e-mailed the developer (Tagaya Yoichi) to ask if he planned to release a Panther-compatible version, and he said "No." It seems that there are changes in Panther that make it impossible for R-Name to operate without rewriting the entire app from scratch, and he's not motivated to do that for a freeware app.

So, there has been a hole in the freeware file renaming application-space once occupied by R-Name. I'm looking forward to seeing how well QuickName fills it.

QuickName CommentaryAlso try R-Name - Version: 1.3.0, 6/29/2004 09:10AM PST

Hmm... it says here that QuickName requires OSX 10.3 (Panther). Why would a simple file-renaming app require Panther to work? I'm one of the many people still using 10.2 (Jaguar), so I guess there's no point in downloading it....

Let me suggest another file-renaming utility to consider: R-Name. I use it frequently and am happy with it. It's free, open-source, and available here on VT. (And it runs fine on Jaguar!) Whether you're using Panther or not, if you're looking for a handy renamer, give R-Name a try.

QuickName CommentaryThere has always been File Buddy - Version: 1.2.0, 6/19/2004 07:21AM PST

For years I've been using File Buddy to do just this (and MANY other
very handy tasks) I've just switched to OSX this week, so I'm trialling
alternatives, but until I give this a real going-over, File Buddy
will be hard to beat!

QuickName ReviewNice - Version: 1.1.2, 6/12/2004 04:03PM PST

This is a very simplistic nice little app! I would like to see it be able to rename to a different folder then the original.
With a few more features added this will be a 5 star app!

All in all I like it, seems fast!
Keep up the good work.

QuickName Reviewgreatest free renamer around - Version: 1.0, 3/20/2004 03:54AM PST

winebug
Frankly, renaming a numer of files should be a standard feature in MacOs X. But since apple doesn't include it ...

I've been searching for ages for a convenient renamer that actually does the job I need it to. This is the one! Simple to use, straightforward and flawless.

For the developer, the field for putting the extension is a little small, depending on the extension you put it will sho completely, or hide some characters (see quality/stability points).

Keep up the good work.
