Burnz ReviewCrams more stuff onto CDs - Version: 1.1.32u, 5/3/2008 11:29AM PST

I have a CD that was burned on a previous version of OSX. I copied it onto my iMac, did some housecleaning, deleted some files, and then tried to burn the files onto a new CD. But I got the message that there are too many files to fit on the disk. This is funny, because the disk was originally 657 MB, and the files I wanted to burn onto a new disk totaled only 626 MB! My guess is that the newest versions of OSX (Tiger and Leopard) add so much overhead that even a smaller number of files will no longer fit. Fortunately, in my first test run with Burnz, all the files fit onto a new CD without complaint.

Burnz ReviewUtterly Useless - Version: 1.1.20u, 2/18/2006 12:51AM PST

Why would I want to use this POS? It cannot burn multisession CD-Rs, so I have to either wait until I have 700 MBs of data to burn, or I have to waste an entire CD-R for a few MBs of data.

Effing USELESS!

I don't know why Apple doesn't build multisession support into the Finder - maybe they think we're all too stupid to understand it - but ANY shareware should add this functionality. As it stands, this developer wants me to pay money for an app that does the same thing as the OS X Finder, but with an ugly interface that sucks. Why? No really, WHY?

Burnz Troubleshooting ReportDoes not work - Version: 1.1.15, 7/29/2005 05:26AM PST

Though I can burn with Finder (10.2.8, Pioneer DVR-109 int., Patch), Burnz does not start any activity, no demo burn, nothing! Features sound really good. But I do not buy without a try... Can anyone help?

Still the best, quickest, drag-n-drop burner around. I have (and use) Toast and several other software burners, but 90% of the time, I just drop a folder on the icon for Burnz and away I go. IMHO, this should be on every desktop that belongs to someone who burns CDs.

Burnz Commentaryfrom the READ ME - Version: 1.1.13, 11/5/2004 07:34AM PST

Burnz 1.1.13 adds no new features, but does fix a bug in the new-version-check code that could cause problems for users with some forms of PPP-DSL connections. This version also adds additional sanity-checking on disk-image burns to avoid bad burns when the Apple HDIUtil system fails to return a valid size for a disk image.

Works as advertised. I paid the shareware fee many verisons ago. However, I can't see any reason why this app tries to connect to spaceweb.com everyday. I've emailed the author several times but he didn't reply. (Hmm) I do not have automatic version checking selected.

After the big issue you make on your web-site about how much money people will save (in terms of their time) by using Burnz, you've got a hell of a nerve posting updates without explaining what has been updated and forcing us to download the new version only to find that the Read Me has NOT been updated to 1.1.10, but is stuck at 1.1.9.

Get your collective heads out of your collective butts!!!

I belive the author is responding (quite quickly, I might add) to a feature request I made a few days ago: the ability to eject media from -all- optical drives, and not just the internal ones.

That's the only change I'm aware of.

(And kudos to him for his quick and courteous service!)
