best racing game on the mac, unfortunately they just don't make mac racing games anymore, and an updated nascar game woudl be spectacular

the 1.2.8 update made the regular game non-functionl, but the online version game is much more stable, unfortunately that probably wasn't the point of the update
all the other links to mods and updates seem to no longer work either
i love this game, but it seems like it has met its time and support has eroded
please update the links or let someone else host them if they want to, and get the best version of the 1.2.8 update up.....thank you
i want to race

1.2.8 works great on my computer (first generation G5 2x2GHz PM).
Find a league, join in and have a great time!
The online gaming in Nascar 2003 is fantastic! I've been in races with more than 30 drivers and it was lag free!
New racing sims can't beat that even now, 3-4 years after N2003 was released!
You'll have a blast racing the AI drivers too. They are actually quite tough!
And another thing... there are plenty of mods out, so you can race Trans-Am,
open wheel racers, Trucks, cars from the Busch serie, IROC....
and I'm sure I forgot to mention a few...
- Drivers! Start your engines!!!

Why are there no new features listed? And why is this not even listed on Aspyr's website!? -Ryan

why people claim that one form of racing is more entertaining than another. If you are interested in motorsport rather than crashes then you'll appreciate F1, sportscar racing, karting, the various NASCAR divisions, rally and a host of other forumlae. Each has it's unique features but none of them are more or less entertaining than any of the others. The only thing that effects entertainment is the quality of the field, not the formulae, and all the majors have great fields at the moment (although I do wish Ferrari would loose a little more often - but they're making the other F1 teams rise to the challenge which can only be a good thing).
Don't pan this program because you can't see "entertainment value" in NASCAR. Don't pan NASCAR because they are a different form of motorsport than most of the others. They have a great package of drivers, technology and tracks just like F!, Indy, ATCC and WRC.

Version 1.0 plays great. Version 1.2.8 crashes on the options screen every time. Beware upgrade.

Can we get some non-nascar games? - Version: 1.2.8, 5/4/2004 12:53PM PST

I wish Aspyr would port some rally games like Colin McRae 03 or 04.
I can't stand Nascar. WRC is a significantly more entertaining form of stock car racing.

It looks better, sounds better and races better!
What a killer update! I've only raced Sears Point with it so far, as this is where many of the updates were made, and what a difference it makes. The improvements to the cars handling characteristics make it way more interesting. The original version was far too twitchy and too easy to spin out. Now you can get into and out of the corners like you would expect and you can now anticipate what the car is about to do (I can't explain this part without using my hands). Let's just say that the body roll now can help you instead of taking you out.
Also you can now hear your tires flex so you can better anticipate when your about to loose your back end or when your about to push like a dump truck.
My only complaint so far is that I still can't use my programable buttons on my LogiTech MOMO wheel to emulate their F-key commands (like pause, etc)
Considering that the game now sells for only $20 bucks and this 265MB free upgrade is such a vast improvement I have to give it 5 stars!

It's great...especially with Force Feedback

I was using the CH pedal/yoke with F1 and decided to get a force wheel - no comparison - the force wheel adds incredibly to the realism - the CH yoke was just to a bit too sloppy to drive acurately & quickly, particularly when trying to run 2 or 3 wide - it does not really center itself as well as the FF wheel. (not that it should be THAT hard to support the CH pedals, I'd say get an FF wheel if you can). This sim is a gas! - great graphics, all the features etc for simulated racing.
It's good but....

But it doesn't work with my CH Products Pro Pedals. Not only that but when I emailed Aspyr about it, it took them 2 weeks to reply and tell that they had only tested it with one type of wheel, a Logitech something or other, and nothing else. It works with my CH USB Flight Sim Yoke OK but such a delay in reply is ridiculous. I also mentioned some graphics problems I was having and they said that the game isn't compatible with any GeForce MX series chipset including, apparently, those shipping in brand new 17" iMacs like mine. You would think that they would mention this in the specs. Anyway I won't be buying it until they fix the pedal thing (it can't be hard considering OS X doesn't know they're anything other than just another joystick) and I won't be buying SimCity 4 until their support dept. deserves it. It's been 2 weeks since I replied to the email they sent me and I still haven't heard a thing back from them. How many other customers are they loosing due to their lack luster support "team".
