Like many open source projects the web site is full of geek speak and there is no easy way to give feedback or ask a question. To add to the confusion, the home page at http://themechanger.sourceforge.net/ has links to a lot of theme sites that make themes, apparently for ShapeShifter in the guiKit format - which don't work in ThemeChanger. The only theme that does work is Iridium; if the other themes won't work in ThemeChanger, why bother linking to them on the site? If these linked sites have any themes which will work in TC there's no easy way to find them. It's a great way to waste an afternoon figuring this out for yourself.
That said, the Iridium theme does work and is easy on the eyes. But I don't see the point in developing an app that is incompatible with the vast majority of available theme files.

Works well...

Just tried it, worked fine for me on an OS X 10.3.2 install on a HD that has never seen ThemeChanger before using Max's SmoothStripes theme for panther.
I have two suggestions before you try ThemeChanger on Panther:
1) Make sure you're using a theme specifically made for Panther, not Jaguar. Apparently using a Jaguar theme is a big no-no and could screw up your system.
2) If you've used ThemeChanger on your comp before Panther, use ThemeChanger's File->Remove Aqua Backup option before installing any panther themes - otherwise if that still points to a backup made from Jaguar, it'll probably cause trouble during the installation of any theme.

I've used ThemeChanger in the past painlessly and easily, and loved it, but I just tried using it in Panther (10.3.1) and it totally crashed my finder. I could not resurrect it, and ended up completely reinstalling Panther. ThemeChanger, to its credit, warned me that I might experience problems when I tried to use it, so kudos to the software makers for being on top of their game there. I would warn anyone else to hold off on using ThemeChanger till its updated to play nicely with Panther. If you are using anything older, then by all means, go for it! I on the other hand, have to wait, and eagerly look forward to the next update.

Nicely done. Me likes.
Two oddities noted with the new interface though.
- Can't move theme selection up and down via the arrow keys, only inside the install/component box.
- If you make the window larger, then smaller again the theme selection box sticks to the lowest point (instead of "My Themes" or the currently selected theme sitting at the top). Again, the install/component box works fine.

I forgot to mention - I made a backup file, tried to restore back to Aqua, etc. So even if you are careful, you can still get screwed up.

I installed 0.6.1 on a dual 1.25 running Panther. I decided to test 1 theme (I believe it was Panther Pro) which was built for 10.3
Immeidately upon the commpletion of the theme install, the finder quit. Permanently. Tried using the tcfix option, reparing permissions, etc. To no avail. strip everything related to ThemeChanger out of the system (by booting into OS 9.2.2). Still nothing. Now I'm reinstalling the the system...
I've used ThemeChanger with previous versions of OS X without signifincant problems, but I would caution anyone using it in Panther until things get worked out...
By the way, does anyone know oof an app which will allow changing of the background color in the finder?

Running 10.3 the themes changes correctly.
Only one thing, I suggest to log out, after restoring original theme, because some windows keep the changed theme, i.e. Force Quit Apps window.
