Horrible Tech support

Version 8 does not print spot colors correctly. Horrible tech support to resolve problem. Have been basically ignored for all emails and voicemails left with tech support. Buy something else!
Not a viable RIP

I have found this product to be more trouble than necessary with Adobe's CS3, and my HP printer. Has difficulty with simple postscript files. Tech support has been unable to solve printing. Not a viable RIP solution.

Does not work on Leopard - Version: 7.39, 11/2/2007 09:37AM PST

PowerRIP does not work on OS 10.5. I contacted the company prior to upgrading my system to confirm if it would work, and I was assured repeatedly that it would. After upgrading my system, I had to reinstall my printers. PowerRIP no longer recognized my Epson. After a few calls with tech support, they discovered that it does not work.

I almost hesitated to buy this software because of these shoddy reviews so I felt the need to clear things up after trying the demo and buying Powerrip 7.4.1 for my Epson R1800. It is great software and the wealth of options and quality are both exactly what I wanted for accurate low-cost proofing for press jobs. It's a little finicky to set up but once it's going, it's solid and the colour accuracy for pseudo-press proofing at home is really what sold me. I had an issue with overprints not working but the tech support responded the same day to tell me the fix for it (use Press Proof setting) and it was resolved. Otherwise Postscript 3 support from my CS3 Indesign and Illustrator are good but I have managed to get bad renderings with extremely complex files that were basically just set up to see how crazy a PS L3 job I could send to this (gradients overprinted by masked multiply with type, etc) but fortunately, for most needs it won't hiccup. Combine this program with a cheap printer profiling app/hardware like Colorvisions PrintFix Pro and you've got a great little home proofer.
Glossy optimizer Epson R1800 - Version: 7.35, 2/10/2007 05:14AM PST

Did anybody succeed in getting the Glossy Optimizer on paper???
At my place he "prints" also over blank places, but leaves it inkless.
I did check that the Glossy Optimizer was not jammed.

What about current models? - Version: 7.28, 3/30/2006 08:37AM PST

Why no support for the UltraChrome models? Any interest in this RIP would have to include the most current Pro printers like 4000/4800, 7600/7800 or 9600/9800's.

This is great RIP software for OS X that keeps getting better and better, albeit very slowly. So if anyone really knows what a RIP is capable of? this software caters for it.
P.S. No replys please about how crappy postscript is in Mac OS X Tiger...Been there and tried it...

It´s a pitty that such a good product gets useless because of lacking support. I use it for years but now I am forced to switch to another product.
AM Micro (UK)tried to help with my printing speed problem with Epson printers, Ted Birmingham (US) took over the job, but seems to have stopped contact with me after some endeavours.
