F1 is still the best Mac racer to date

I have F1 Championship Season 2000 plus several other Macintosh OS X racing simulators including the two Nascar 2002 and 2003 racers.
I believe that F1 2000 still provides the best overall racing experience of all the sims available on the Macintosh platform TODAY. The quality of the Force Feedback is great too. Even though the Nascar racers have excellent quality graphics (just slightly better than F1) and Force Feedback too, you can only enjoy turning left until a certain point before it becomes just plain boring. The missing feel of the G force sensation that should be felt in the high bank turns driven in the Nascar racers to date is not available in a sim and contributes significantly to a false driving effect in the Nascar racers. With F1 the pure open wheel, unobstructed view, twist and turn excitement level experienced by racing F1 is not obtained with any other Mac racing sim, bar non. That said, the fact that a newer version of F1 has not reached the Mac platform yet is truly not significant yet. If a 2003 or 2004 version were to be released on Mac OS X I would be one of the first to get it.

I sincerely hope that the writeup (specifically the "what's new section" contains an error. It doesn't seem like such a benefit to incorporate intermittant lockups into a new version of a racing game. Did you mean to write "Fixed a" before that bullet?

Still season 2000!?!? - Version: 1.0.4, 3/5/2004 06:25PM PST

Hmm, on the eve of the first race in the 2004 season's calendar, wouldn't development time be better spent on porting this season's championship to the Mac, or at the very least, last season's!?
Oh, and re: the blurb at the top, were the glory days not between Schumacher and Hakkinen? Don't get me wrong, there is no other driver for me than DC, but I'd never say that the battles between him and schuey were "glory day" worthy.
Anyway, I don't own the game and haven't downloaded this update, so won't rate it, but I just wanted to have my say: Please bring out a newer version!

according to the manual, my machine is a class 5 (Dual 867 G4) If I run the game at class 5 settings I get about 8fps absolutely useless. To get any decent sort of speed I have to switch off all (yes all) extras and run with everything at the lowest setting. Either my gfx card is not supported (standard fitted) or this is the worst written game ever!

shows a huge improvement in this game. I'm almost convinced. But I keep getting creamed, even with computer assist. How playable is the full version, and how good is the force-feedback? Anyone?

with QT 6.1. It also works great with my Logitech MOMO Force wheel, fully support Force Feedback on it. I think a separate calibration utility would be good, however. Sometimes the wheel's centering seems to get 'off' along with the throttle control. But, otherwise, a worthwhile update to a terrific game.

added an entry to our F1 FAQ regarding the missing SafeDisk LT message (see http://www.zonic.co.uk/games/f12000/). If this does not solve the problem for you, please send a mail to f1support@feral.co.uk and we will investigate it further.

I apologise for any problems which you may have encountered with the update. The application should not need to be renamed for the updater to find it and the game should find the CD in the drive, but please note that this must be the original CD, not a copy. If you have not already done so, please contact us at f1support@feral.co.uk and we will do everything possible to help. Many thanks, Ian.
and luckily I stumbled upon the new Virtual Grand Prix 2 from Feral.
It's OS X native and it rocks! In simulator mode the action seems pretty realistic.
