I cant get this to complete the install of 9.2.1 update on my
(7600 series PowerMac 400 mhz G3 Sonnet upgrade card with mac os 9.1)
when it is installing the actual 9.2.1 update it checks the disk, finds that its ok, then installed the new apple hard disk drivers. then right hwne its done with that it tells me that there is a file named "Desktop Pictures" on the system Hard drive that already exists and to please rename ot delete it, so the installer stops and im supposed to delete this file.
But whats messed up is the file doesnt exist! so how am i supposed to delete it :\
its not even a invisible file, i've searched many a different ways for this "Desktop Pictures" folder or file whatever it is, and it simply dooes not exist. and yet every time i atempt to install the 9.2.1 update it insists its there and will not complete installation till i renamed or removed. I've even rebuild the desktop and scanned the drive with first aid, and norton, and still come up with the same problem..

One of the best shareware programs I have ever used! The fee of only $10 makes one ashamed because it is worth much more! It is true OS 9.2.2 is much more stable than 9.1. OS9 Helper is stable. In fact, since installing Helper on my Sonnet G3 / 8600, it has NEVER been so stable!

i reinstalled my 7300 several times last 3 months.
os9 helper keeps generating troubles:
the first reboots everything runs fine and a shuts down quite fast.
after a while it looks like the mac shuts down too fast and always reboots with a disk-first-aid recovery.
after some weeks dfa can't recover and only diskwarrior or norton utilities can recover most of the disc.
never had such problems with 9.1.
it looks like disk caches aren't written when shutting down in 9.2.x

XLR8 7300 I got a "wrong language" error message using Helper, the web site gave me the patches, instructions and encouragement to get me up to 9.2.2. WOW! One happy guy now!

heads up: based on these reviews, I downloaded OS9 Helper, downloaded the 9.2 upgrades and proceeded with installation, only to realize that there is no 9.2 enabler for the Sonnet Crescendo/7200, meaning that IT WILL NOT WORK under 9.2.x! Thankfully, I had thought ahead enough to keep a stuffed copy of my 9.1, so all it cost me was the time. I am writing to Sonnet to point out this situation, in the hopes that they will be able do something about it.
Does anyone know… - Version: 1.0b7, 2/19/2003 11:26PM PST

where I can get a copy that is not corrupt? The link downloads a copy that gives me -32 errors. If someone would contact me at smayer97@yahoo.com or even send me a good copy I would be very grateful.

1.0b7" is great. Thank you very much. The only problem I had was getting online. I had to take open Transport files from 8.6 to get on. Don't know why, since Apple raves about it's internet capabilities. lilWoolie›

using v2.0.1 of the sonnet drivers? I've got a sonnet card inside my 6500 and this boots fine with OS922. Also got a 9600/350 and this is ok with the OS upgrade also. ...you could always try zapping the PRAM?? And i've also noticed that, after a crash, the Macs can take twice as long to start up (before the extensions appear at the bottom of the screen), so u could wait a little longer?:) Dunno why this is! OS922 on both my Macs - MUCH faster than OS9.1. Thank you Apple,.....erm..!!! ;-)
Please choose a different destination disk, or perform a clean
installation."
I tried with three different versions of 9.1 (US, International and French) and with two Macs (PowerBook 3400c ant PowerMac 5500) - always with the same ending :-/
btw. http://www.os9forever.com seems to be dead since yesterday :-C
