Netscape X CommentaryReal Damn Pity... - Version: 9.0.0.6, 2/22/2008 06:32PM PST

Long time user from those olden days when Netscape first died off and had no choice but to find another web browser in replacement until this app rose again for OS X. Well, I'm still going to use this as the main browser and FireFox as a secondary. Safari sucked as still does having lost the ability in accessing Bookmarks once I made that disaster uploading OS X 10.4.11. I do not want to rebuild the OS and until the time I do upgrade to an Intel this will still be my browser of choice. Gonna miss ya.

News blogs have repeated endlessly how AOL, in dire straits itself, has gotten rid of all the Netscape infrastructure like deadweight, so don't expect much support at all.

It is sad to see Netscape fade from glory; nowadays it seems like a fumigated roach, everyone thinks it's dead but it still twitches a leg or an antennae occasionally.

Netscape X ReviewMozilla with its own personality - Version: 9.0.0.5, 12/11/2007 03:35PM PST

This browser's fine. The naysayers are getting as tired as they say Netscape is. Get over it, use it or don't, but it does what it says it does and does it fast. I've yet to discover why Firefox may be better, or Omni, or any of the other Mozilla based browsers. If you want all the features of the old Netscape, though, don't take their their advice to stick with 7 - get SeaMonkey. It's the old Netscape with many improvements. But Netscape X is solid, fast, dependable and has some nice options not found elsewhere. I use Safari, Netscape and Opera - all a little different, all good at what they deliver.

Netscape X ReviewSeems just fine here - Version: 9.0.0.4, 12/7/2007 12:02AM PST

Netscape was my original and favorite browser way-back-when and it's nice to see the reincarnation. There haven't been any problems at all on my PPC G4 macmini running 10.4.11, and it seems fast and relevant to the times. Ford and GM have been around a long time too and nobody buys their new cars for nostalgia as far as I can tell. It pulled in all my Safari bookmarks and categories without my even asking and hasn't missed a beat yet. SeaMonkey is still my browser-of-choice because I like the mail integration but Safari (and AppleMail of course) get used a lot too just because I can I guess, and there's nothing negative to be said about them either. OSX is just fantastic IMHO. And lots of RAM is a good thing too.

Netscape X CommentaryWhat is Netscape now? - Version: 9.0.0.4, 11/29/2007 07:55AM PST

I know they became AOL's low cost dialup NetZero competitor then I heard the name was being used as a Digg.com clone. The software is all rebranded mozilla.com now so I'm not sure why any of this exists. I'm honestly curious what Netscape is now.

Downloaded on a new MacBook Pro with Leopard x.5.1 and it would not open. It looks like it is loading but never gives a browser window and sits with the 'wheel of death' forever. Had to force quit.
