InVisibles ReviewWorks great on OS 10.5.6 Mac G5 - Version: 1.5, 3/5/2009 10:40PM PST

I had a simple use for InVisibles: to find and delete some annoying invisible Norton Utilities files that have managed to follow me from OS upgrade to OS upgrade. Worked great; I had absolutely no problem. Registration is optional, but easy, and good to provide Mac4ever some feedback, especially for a free product.

There are many of free invisibility togglers that just work - InVisibles is not one of them. Ask it to toggle file visibility, and it will begrudingly do so, and then hop up and down in the dock in the protest. Click its dock icon, and InVisibles nags like a spoilt housewife, insisting to be recognized as "mailware."

WTF is "mailware"? Who cares? Go download a FREE visibility toggler and you'll never care, either.

What's Mailware. Do they thing by using this application they have the right to collect your privet email address and sell it to spammers. I thought this was freeware with no strings. I get zero spam and if I start getting some, then someones getting sued. I consider spam terror attacks, as I think everyone should. Now for the application itself. Really a great application, thanks.

InVisibles CommentaryBuggy and Slow - Version: 1.5, 2/3/2007 07:06PM PST

Kind of buggy and slow in 10.4.8 on G4 Digital Audio machine. When I tried to go back to making the files invisible, the script seemed to hang. 1.4.3 seems to work better than current version (1.5).

I double clicked on the application, and it almost shows up on the Dock, as the Dock begins to expand, then collapses back to its original size.

Visibility is a finder attribute which isn't available "just for one folder", so no software can do what you expect. This app is the fastest and easiest way to show all usually invisible files (and hide it again if needed).

You may want something like Hide-Out! (secret folder) to hide stuff, but InVisibles is a little helper for developers and webadmins which have to deal i.e. with the httpd.conf of Apache Servers.

This app doesn't let you select which folders or files to make invisible or visible--it just does the entire drive or not. What good is that? I wanted to make a particular folder visible or invisible by setting or unsetting the invisible bit (as you could do in OS 9 using ResEdit.) This won't do that and I cannot fathom what it will do that anyone would want.
