bbDEMUX CommentaryGreat idea but... - Version: 1.40rc1, 6/27/2009 12:40PM PST

The concept for this app is a great idea but the code appears to be fossilized in SourceForge so development has probably ceased on this.

Doesn't produce any files. Did no one test it before releasing it?

Dragged and dropped a VOB file and one second later received the message "Demux Complete". No files were generated.

Used File/Open with the same results. Apparently the developer doesn't have any testers.

bbDEMUX CommentaryWorked for Me!! - Version: 1.3.1, 8/28/2007 05:25PM PST

There's a catch on my OSX, here's what I did (and it worked):

1. Download free bbDemux, open bbDemux

2. choose the mpg file you want to convert, and select the area you want the new files to appear. It will convert your mpg into TWO files: an audio file (m1a) and video file (m1v). The video file loaded into iMovie just fine. Take the audio file and CHANGE the file name to MP3 (by typing it in). It will ask if you really want to do this-- click yes. Then, move it into iTunes and convert it to aif. iTunes could not read the m1a file extension.

3. Drag the aif file into iMovie. Worked for me!!!

What does this do besides say demux complete? Using OPEN tab located .mov files downloaded from my Canon A520 camera then tried to save in another 'demuxed' file I created to keep everything straight. Well, no demuxed file where it was supposed to go or in search. What do you want for free, QT PRO 7? Oh yeah, I had a key for QT PRO 6 but apple won't honor that. Using 1.5 GHz mini with 10.4.5.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to drop a file onto the window, but I was able to open the same file through File > Open. Did exactly what I needed, even on a damaged video QuickTime couldn't open. Thank you!

This program is sweet!! I've been trying for an hour to export audio out of mpegs from my digital camera using Quicktime Pro 7. Even with tons of codecs nothing could do it. After looking onward I came across a link to this page. This program split the video and audio in 2 seconds!! Thanks!!!

It's just what the doctor ordered. I wanted to separate tracks on mpgs taken by my Sony digital camera, but QuickTime - even QT Pro - wouldn't let me do it. So I was stuck with the original audio tracks, which I wanted badly to replace with my choice of music. Now I can! I just downloaded it, so I can't speak for anything that might transpire down the road. But, for today - Hooray! Incidentally, I'm using Panther.

... it doesn't even work on OS 9.2.1. Well, it either doesn't work, or takes so long it doesn't appear to work - I tried dragging 'n dropping onto it but it just sat there with an empty progress bar for about a minute before I got fed up and closed it. The skip and Cancel buttons didn't do anything either. I tried opening an mpeg instead of dragging and dropping, but that produced the same results. Aside from all this, there's no documentation, so I didn't have a clue about most of the preferences. Fat lot of good this was.
