Dead duck - Version: 2.0b11, 8/1/2006 03:22PM PST

iMsafe is now nothing but a dead duck. It's been in beta for over a year now, most likely much longer. This is totally ridiculous. The product showed some promise, but how long do we, REGISTERED users, have to wait for the new, totally stable, non-beta version? At this point I consider the developer to be very irresponsible. No schedule, no updates, no info pertaing to when we could expect full version to be availble. To say that I feel cheated after having paid the registration fee would be to put it very mildly. Time to switch to ChronoSynch, or another reliable application offered and serviced by PROFESSIONAL developers. I strongly warn every one about iMsafe - do not waste your time and money on this one!
App works well

I have found the application to be a suitable data backkup solution. I recommend it to family and friends.
Works well--especially for synching

I'm not sure what some of the other people who posted here were doing with their copies of IMSafe that caused problems for them, but it does exactly what I need it to do without crashing, causing any problems, or having any issues with permissions. I use it now to sync a frequently-used folder between my Powerbook, .mac account (iDisk), and desktop. Works flawlessly, updating only the files that have changes to keep my computers synced without having to connect them. Extremely easy to use and seems stable (although keep in mind it's a beta). So far I'm very pleased and highly recommend the program, espcially for synching files/folders.
bad experience...

i've been using different apps to backup my powerbook to an external fw drive.
tried imsafe today.
after a few minutes into backup...i saw my fw drive was no longer on the desktop, and i had a "device removal" warning showing.
could not mount the ext drive (tried diskwarrior, etc); got it back on second restart.
trashing imsafe; back to superduper!

The "copy" to a network feature is just what I needed. However, besides being slow (which might be the fault of my network and not the apps), I've had many instances of crashes and have been unable to get a complete backup done. That said, I couldn't recommend the app as is to anybody yet, but will certainly keep on watching for the releases. It has promise.
iMsafe is the best

I've tried numerous other backup programs (sometimes with frustrating and/or disastrous results) and iMsafe is definitely the best. The interface is simple, it has all the flexibility I need, and it works! Their response to questions is fabulous — literally within minutes and straight to the point.
Permissions problems

The first backup you run with iMsafe succeeds. But all subsequent backup attempts fail because the program reports that it doesn't have permissions to overwrite/replace the files it copied previously. This makes the iMsafe not very effective. Also, it quits after these errors occur instead of staying on the screen so the user can be alerted to the problem. I assumed my backups were taking place but they were not. This is downright dangerous.
Promising backup software

Great program ... been fiddling with several backup programs trying to find something that "fits," and iMsafe seemed to do the trick.
It's simple but has the key features I needed: ability to backup over a network and do scheduled backups.
I'm sure others would like more features, but please don't bloat it up too much! I look forward to be a paying customer.

I used 1.8.1 until Panther in-which 1.8.1 was nonfunctional for volume backups. 2.0b4 is much improved and more stable in Panther. Default window is too large, but SweetCocoa assures me that this will be fixed. Minor, occasional mounting volume errors i.e.. password incorrect. Also, cannot select multiple backups for simultaneous running. I tried Retrospect..too many features and too cumbersome. Keep up the good work! Would be nice if iMsafe would incorporate a 'wake-up call' just incase the target computer is sleeping. I use WakeUp for this purpose.
