...it fails when the name of the directory has characters not included in 7-bit ASCII (e.g. accented characters).

script to be essential for switching back and forth between terminal windows and finder windows. My only criticism is that it sets the window size to something different from my defaults - but that was easy to fix by using Script Editor to remove the part of the script that sets the terminal size. In addition to putting the script in the Finder toolbar, I've put it in a DragThing dock and assigned a hotkey to it; it works that way too.

properties using Apple's Script Editor. Open the Script with it and watch out for the two property lines at the beginning of the script. Change them, then save it again.

set the properties? My ~/.OpenTerminalHere just contains a path. And it would be nice if you could have this app running all the time (but _without_ appearing in the Dock). Would save a second or so at every launch;-)
