Apple iDVD CommentaryConfused??? - Version: 7.0.4, 6/4/2009 08:41PM PST

This update is clearly listed as requiring Mac OS X 10.5 on Versiontracker's site as well as Apple's.

I am running OS 10.4.11, yet Software Update is prompting me to install it. Since iDVD was the only application that wasn't updated with the iLife '09 upgrade, will this version of iDVD work with iLife '08 and will it run under Tiger? I'm concerned I may experience problems if I run the update under these conditions.

This is so easy to use, and burns DVD's without any probs on my MBP in OS X v 5.5. Creates great professional looking DVDs effortlessly that Window users struggle to come up with. Great job Apple ! Look forward to version 8 !!!

Apple iDVD Troubleshooting ReportQuickTime 7.5 required - Version: 7.0.2, 6/11/2008 11:29AM PST

When I ran Software Update today, it showed only the update for QuickTime 7.5.

After I ran the update and restarted, I ran Software Update again. That's when the updates for iMovie and iDVD appeared.

The same sequence occurred when I ran Software Update on my other Mac.

Apple iDVD CommentaryWhile finding people unhelpful, make sure you use DVD-RW ;) - Version: 7.0.1, 4/25/2008 03:11PM PST

iDVD previous version (6.x) was un intuitive, slow, had a horrible mpeg 2 encoder but it could produce READABLE DVD discs.

Guess what? I just wasted 3 DVD-R media trusting this programs DVD recording and ended up buying Toast 9 upgrade as this was the last event convincing me that Apple Inc. ripped me off with iLife 08 update.

I am not joking or no sarcasm intended, make sure you test it with a DVD-RW.

There are no hacks, unsupported drives here. I just trusted my DVD-R to built in DVD recorder coming inside Quad G5.

BTW, it is not SMP aware too. Single CPU using. Must be the only one on industry.

Roxio should thank to Apple.

Is Apple regressing? The version I have installed on my system is 7.0.1. This released version is 6.0.4 and will not install over the one I have. What gives? Did the Leopard lose its spots?

Apple iDVD CommentaryI don't like what's becoming of Apple - Version: 7.0.1, 9/26/2007 09:17PM PST

All the other major screwups and unfinished apps/hardware Apple has released in the past 2 years proves to me that Apple is letting success go to their heads. They've stopped taking the time to get things right the first time -- probably because they are now competing with the big boys. It's a shame really: What was once a super cool niche company is rapidly becoming just another half-assed, hardball playing, pump-em-out, consumer electronics giant that only cares about the bottom line. The only part of me that likes what Apple is becoming is the part that owns 500 shares of their stock (bought 2 years ago and being sold tomorrow morning, since it just passed $150/share -- an increase of over 100%). The rest of me is sad.

This is the most un-intuitive, user-unfriendly program Apple has ever released. Nothing ever does what I think it will or want it to. Labels that won't allow the typeface to be changed, themes with backgrounds, buttons, and drop zones that can't be changed or deleted... I don't want or like any of the canned themes. Why can't I just start with a plain white background, drag some images and text in, specify some buttons & menus, and burn?

The help file is abysmal too.

Apple iDVD Reviewsimple to use; way better than previous versions - Version: 6.0.2, 5/30/2006 05:54AM PST

awesome! i've used both iDVD and DVDSP since version 1 and they keep getting better. you can't really compare to DVDSP, but great for non-"pros" ...

iDVD will hang on launch if you rename your last project via the finder ...

Apple could bump up the bit-rate quality, but still on par or better than toast 7

I have been a fervent iDVD user for a while, but had not often tried version 5 yet. Yesterday I was going to burn a TV recording using eyeTV, iMovie and iDVD (PAL). Everything looked good as usual, but the outcome has been extremely poor: the video is shaky, but the audio material is not. Any ideas what the reason could be?
