well, here was my experience, trying out flexisheet:

download flexisheet... fire it up... do a 'file open' on a simple CSV text file... watch beachball cursor spinning... and spinning... and spinning... while a message displays "opening file" [or words to that effect]. after ten minutes begin trying the usual keyboard commands like "apple+ ." and "esc" to try and force the app to abort what it's doing... app continues to display spinning beachball... hit "apple+alt+esc" to bring up force quit window... force quit flexisheet

at this point i think "OK. maybe it didn't like that CSV file for some reason. i'll give it a fair crack of the whip. so i:

navigate to the flexisheet app folder and select one of the "sample files" therein... double click on the sample file... get presented with an error message saying "loading this document failed. this document is in an invalid format"... quit flexisheet... move flexisheet to trash... empty trash... think to myself sadly "there's 15 minutes i'll never get back!"

developer doesn't keep us posted as to what's new in each release. Yes, maybe we can go to the web site or consult a Read Me file; but why not just include the highlights here on VT so some of us can determine whether to try a download or not?

this time FlexiSheet is still limited in it's functionality. Seems pretty obvious to me.

1.0b5.3, that would be a 'beta'. >Anything less than 1.0, ALPHA! Sounds realistic. Except for this on their website Where can I download FlexiSheet? Beta release 0.5.4 of FlexiSheet is available for download. Your feedback is very much appreciated. Send critique, questions, encouragement, or feature suggestions to stefan@materialarts.com Release Notes...

believe how somebody can so blatantly miss the obvious. First, there is no "license type" of alpha; "beta" is as close as you get. Secondly, the fact that the version # is 0.5.3 -- i.e. less than 1.0 -- makes it extremely obvious that this is an alpha release. If it were 1.0b5.3, that would be a 'beta'. Anything less than 1.0, ALPHA! For an alpha, it is a rockin' strong release. The UI is a bit confusing, but mostly because it doesn't give enough feedback yet. However, it is fairly feature complete-- formulas work, drag-n-drop of dimensions work, etc... Very cool stuff.

Hi im ben
believe people actually argue whether a program should be listed as an alpha or a beta.
