Edit_Dude
you're missing is that ASP only gives your local IP address. If you're using a router, that address is useless if, for example, you want to give your public IP to someone you want to allow to connect via file sharing (assuming you've opened the proper service port). IP Addresser defaults to giving the local IP, but you can change the preference to obtain your public address.

your IP Addresser utility. It would be nice if I could see my Lan address and my Wan address in the same window. It may be a suggestion for the next version. Keep up the good work. BTW yout support mail address does not work, returned a NDN message, adress unknown. Minus 1 star for this. jan.vansprengel@comit.be

first such tool I've found that shows my correct IP address behind my airport base station (I'm using Earthlink DSL which is a PPPoE connection). The "ifconfig en0" command-line command does NOT return the correct address - that returns the local IP - I need the external IP. This program, while certainly quirky, does what I need and the scriptability should prove useful. Will net 5 stars with a cleaned up user interface.

when you use NAT routing "screenname too long". This tool works with virtual IPs.

for an application indicating the IP address when you can just do: "ifconfig en0" in the Terminal. Moreover, the Preferences Menu item is not at the proper location: it should be in the Application Menu. In the Preferences dialog, the OK button should be the rightmost button (at least on MacOS). The last problem being that it's so long to launch an application on MacOS X that calling this application from an AppleScript would surely need the addition of a with timeout of 600 seconds/ end tiemout code.

free! Some people are obviously just idiots. It does exactly what it says it does. Plus, it allows you to get your IP from AppleScript. There's no other way to do that right now under OSX
