Bug still there.

3.1 introduced a bug, which is still there. Smart play lists end up on the iPod Touch in random order. Whether I arrange them in iTunes by name or play duration, either ascending or descending, the order on the Mac is not the same as on the iPod. This bug was not in 3.0
Big improvement, still some problems - Version: 2.1, 9/12/2008 03:41PM PST

Install went very smoothly. Significant improvements in install and backup speeds, and overall responsiveness. Reverts to Edge mode sooner so fewer connection problems.
However, like many others, I still get an "unknown error" when updating applications and have to remove them from the iPhone to update. This erases info associated with the app, like high scores or or configuration data.

Been trying to install all day. Backup speed HAS NOT improved.
iTunes almost looks dead - progress bar hasn't moved in an hour, phone turns off, doesn't display any messages like "backing up" or "restore in progress". Shouldn't it stay on during the entire process - like it does during syncing?
I started this process 4 hours ago and the backup is maybe 1/20th complete. It is moving, but its moving with the speed of rotting garbage.
Another disappointing Apple brick.

Well, this morning I ran to my MBA & installed 2.1 for the iPhone (I have a 3G). I have been having issues updating & downloading apps & have restored my iPhone 6X in the last two weeks :(. I also had reception issues & never got above one bar @ my house, & was dropping calls like you wouldn't believe.
I'm happy to say this update fixed all my problems. I now have four to five bars & don't crash when updating & downloading apps.
My faith in Apple is renewed.
