the story continues ... From webEdition Software GmbH to living-e AG How it all started The webEdition CMS was originally created at ASTARTE New Media AG in 2001. ASTARTE had already gained an excellent reputation as a software developer with its Toast CD recording software for the Apple Macintosh platform, and its DVD authoring tool, DVDirector, for PC and Mac. What happened next ASTARTE New Media AG sold the webEdition content management system at the start of 2003 to a group of investors under the auspices of the venture capital company First Ventury AG. As its key product, the newly established webEdition Software GmbH will continue to develop and market Germany's leading content management system. What happed then Alongside the further development of the WCMS webEdition, more applications have been created in the most recent period: * The MAMP was launched at Systems 2004; this is an installation package for Apple Macintosh environments, which was at that time available anywhere in the world only from webEdition. * Since the start of 2005, well-known service providers have been offering a further software distribution from the webEdition stable: webEdition easy. * In November 2005, web statistics software for the real-time analysis of website visitor behaviour was brought to market in the form of pageLogger. Where we stand today In June 2006, webEdition Software GmbH was transformed into living-e AG. The new name symbolises the organic growth of the company. And this includes both new products and a stronger focus on internationalisation.
